R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the loss of Harold Spencer
  Stone of Katy, who died on November 22, 2008, at the age of 78; and
         WHEREAS, Spencer Stone was born in Houston on July 11, 1930,
  to H. A. Stone and Iras M. Stone; he graduated from Lamar High
  School in Houston in 1949 and earned his bachelor's degree in
  business administration from Baylor University in 1954; and
         WHEREAS, After serving with the U.S. Air Force in Washington,
  D.C., he returned to the Houston area, where he enjoyed a long and
  diverse career as an entrepreneur and businessman; among the firms
  he owned were Stone Supply Company, Spencer Petroleum Company,
  International Marketing Associates, PrimeTex Realty Group, Kings
  Crossing Development Company, and Spencer and Associates; he was
  also a principal partner in Weed Eater, Inc., HMC/The Green
  Machine, Brunson/Stone Interests, and other investment and
  marketing groups; and
         WHEREAS, This dynamic gentleman also found time to contribute
  to the prosperity of his community; he was a member of the board of
  directors of the Katy Area Economic Development Council, serving on
  the executive committee and as co-chair of the industry committee,
  and he was chairman of the board of the Technology Center of West
  Houston; additionally, he was active with the Kingsland Baptist
  Church; and
         WHEREAS, Known for his warmth and his sense of humor, Spencer
  Stone enjoyed meeting people and took pride in finding solutions to
  challenges; he was devoted to his family and friends, and the memory
  of his energy and his kindness will live forever in the hearts of
  all who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Harold Spencer Stone
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Beverly; to his daughters, Deborah Parsons and Tamalyn
  Lawrence; to his son, Randall Stone; to his stepsons, Mark
  Littlefield, Greg Littlefield, and Robert Littlefield; to his
  sisters, Minnie Grace Ford and her husband, Mickie, and Estelle
  Harris; to his 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and to
  his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Harold
  Spencer Stone.
