R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Professional associations are essential to the |
|
|
economic life of the Lone Star State, and the Texas Society of |
|
|
Certified Public Accountants plays a vital role in the prosperity |
|
|
of Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A nonprofit, voluntary professional organization, |
|
|
the TSCPA is dedicated to representing the interests of Texas |
|
|
accountants and upholding the values and high standards of |
|
|
accountancy in Texas; it is the largest state CPA organization in |
|
|
the United States, with 20 chapters across the state representing |
|
|
28,000 members; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The TSCPA maintains professional accounting |
|
|
standards through its CPE Foundation, which provides more than 500 |
|
|
continuing education programs to its members, and its Peer Review |
|
|
Program, which administers a mandatory practice-monitoring program |
|
|
to more than 5,000 CPA firms in Texas and Utah; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Public service is an important part of the TSCPA's |
|
|
function; its efforts include an accounting career awareness |
|
|
program that provides information to students considering a career |
|
|
in accounting, while the Accounting Education Foundation offers |
|
|
scholarships and other support to accounting students; the |
|
|
Accountancy Museum in the organization's Dallas headquarters |
|
|
offers an informative history of the profession; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By means of its advocacy, education, and awareness |
|
|
programs, the TSCPA continues to promote the highest ethical and |
|
|
professional ideals of accounting throughout the state, and its |
|
|
members may take great pride in the indispensible part they play in |
|
|
the economy of Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the many contributions of the |
|
|
Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and extend to the |
|
|
organization and its members sincere best wishes for their |
|
|
continued success. |
