R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. William C. Yankowsky retired from the South
  Texas Medical Clinic in December 2008, drawing to a close a notable
  career in medicine that spanned 33 years; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Alabama, Dr. Yankowsky graduated Phi
  Beta Kappa from the University of Alabama in 1964 and earned his
  medical degree at Vanderbilt University in 1968; he received his
  training in general surgery at the Indiana University School of
  Medicine from 1968 to 1970; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Yankowsky entered the United States Air Force in
  1970 and received further surgical training at the USAF Wilford
  Hall Medical Center in San Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, After his military service, Dr. Yankowsky began his
  own medical practice in Wharton in 1975; he later became affiliated
  with the Rugeley-Blasingame Clinic, serving as its president for
  several years, and since that clinic's merger with another to form
  South Texas Medical Clinics in the mid-1980s, he continued to
  practice there until his retirement; and
         WHEREAS, Despite his many professional responsibilities,
  this caring gentleman also found time to contribute to his
  community as a member of the board of the Wharton Independent School
  District from 1982 to 1987, serving as its president for four of
  those years; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Yankowsky's dedication and commitment to
  excellence have greatly benefited his fellow Texans, and he may
  indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he prepares to
  embark on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. William C. Yankowsky on his
  retirement from the practice of medicine and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Yankowsky as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
