R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Carol Sue Marshall is retiring in 2008 as
  associate dean for teacher education at the College of Education at
  The University of Texas at Arlington; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Marshall holds degrees in speech and language
  pathology, education of the deaf, and early childhood education and
  has distinguished herself throughout her dynamic career; before
  joining UTA, she worked in rehabilitation centers with
  neurologically impaired children and adults, taught in a school for
  the deaf, served as an educational diagnostician, and worked with
  parents and children in a Montessori school; moreover, she has
  studied the work of early childhood experts Maria Montessori and
  Jean Piaget, publishing articles on such topics as literacy
  development and the creation of articulated programs between
  colleges; and
         WHEREAS, During her tenure as associate dean for teacher
  education, Dr. Marshall has played an essential role in initiating
  and supporting professional development schools and in creating
  articulated degrees and teacher certification programs in
  cooperation with community colleges; and
         WHEREAS, Countless people have benefited from the dedication
  and leadership of this esteemed professional, and her contributions
  to UTA and beyond will continue to be felt for years to come; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Carol Sue Marshall on her
  retirement from The University of Texas at Arlington and extend to
  her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Marshall as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
