R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Brian Iglesias of Edinburg has demonstrated
  remarkable maturity in the year since a crisis befell his family;
  and
         WHEREAS, In 2005, his mother, Yvonne Iglesias, was gravely
  injured in a terrible car accident; her neck and back were broken,
  and she remained in a coma for three months before waking to find
  herself a paraplegic; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Iglesias was only 15 at the time, but he quickly
  stepped into a new role, shouldering household duties and caring
  for his mother and siblings; despite these challenges, he continued
  to do well at Johnny Economedes High School and played defensive end
  for the Jaguars football team; and
         WHEREAS, In May 2008, Mr. Iglesias graduated from high
  school, with his proud mother in attendance; more recently, he has
  started a new chapter in his life as a kinesiology major at The
  University of Texas-Pan American; his younger brother, Nelson, is
  following in his footsteps as a "guardian angel" to the family; and
         WHEREAS, Selfless and dedicated, Brian Iglesias has been a
  tremendous role model for his siblings and an inspiration to all who
  know him; although he had to grow up far too quickly, he can take
  great pride in all he has done to assist his family and to prepare
  for the future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Brian Iglesias for his achievements and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Iglesias as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
