R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Brian Iglesias of Edinburg has demonstrated |
|
remarkable maturity in the year since a crisis befell his family; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2005, his mother, Yvonne Iglesias, was gravely |
|
injured in a terrible car accident; her neck and back were broken, |
|
and she remained in a coma for three months before waking to find |
|
herself a paraplegic; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Iglesias was only 15 at the time, but he quickly |
|
stepped into a new role, shouldering household duties and caring |
|
for his mother and siblings; despite these challenges, he continued |
|
to do well at Johnny Economedes High School and played defensive end |
|
for the Jaguars football team; and |
|
WHEREAS, In May 2008, Mr. Iglesias graduated from high |
|
school, with his proud mother in attendance; more recently, he has |
|
started a new chapter in his life as a kinesiology major at The |
|
University of Texas-Pan American; his younger brother, Nelson, is |
|
following in his footsteps as a "guardian angel" to the family; and |
|
WHEREAS, Selfless and dedicated, Brian Iglesias has been a |
|
tremendous role model for his siblings and an inspiration to all who |
|
know him; although he had to grow up far too quickly, he can take |
|
great pride in all he has done to assist his family and to prepare |
|
for the future; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Brian Iglesias for his achievements and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and |
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Iglesias as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
