R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas are
  committed to honoring United States military personnel and to
  paying special tribute to those who have given their lives in
  service to the country; and
         WHEREAS, Affiliated with a national organization that has
  more than 158,000 members across the United States, the Patriot
  Guard Riders of South Texas includes both veterans and nonveterans
  and riders and nonriders, and its membership is open to individuals
  representing a variety of political opinions; what unites this
  diverse group is their unwavering respect for the armed forces and
  their desire to pay homage to America's fallen heroes; and
         WHEREAS, The South Texas chapter of the PGR carries out its
  objectives in a number of ways, including visits to veterans' homes
  and VA hospitals; its members also come together to send off
  servicemen and servicewomen who are departing for tours of duty and
  to welcome those who are returning home; and
         WHEREAS, The primary objective of the Patriot Guard Riders is
  to attend funerals and memorials for fallen military personnel as
  guests of the families who have lost their loved ones; through
  strictly nonviolent means, PGR members may also shield the
  attendees from interruptions to the services created by protestors;
  by supporting the mourning families, their friends, and their
  communities, this notable organization demonstrates a deep
  appreciation for those who have fought to ensure the freedom and
  security of the nation; and
         WHEREAS, The Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas are
  contributing to the greater good by honoring fallen soldiers and
  supporting military families, and their efforts serve as an
  important reminder that members of the armed forces are deserving
  of the utmost admiration for their dedication and bravery; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas
  for the outstanding service they have rendered to U.S. military
  personnel and their families and extend to the members of the
  organization best wishes for continued success with their important
  work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas as an
  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
