R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Heritage Senior Center of Irving offers area senior |
|
citizens a place to socialize and participate; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since its inception, Heritage Senior Center has |
|
benefited the minds, bodies, and spirits of its patrons; membership |
|
is offered to residents 50 years of age and older and allows access |
|
to myriad worthwhile activities; and |
|
WHEREAS, Among many offerings, the center boosts wellness |
|
through health and nutrition expos, counseling sessions, and |
|
fitness classes, and enrichment through instruction in computers, |
|
Spanish, and genealogy; in addition, members may advance their |
|
creative skills with courses in writing, oil painting, and |
|
woodcarving; and |
|
WHEREAS, A number of special events are planned each month, |
|
such as book club gatherings, pool tournaments, and murder mystery |
|
dinner theater; also a place for entertainment, Heritage has bingo, |
|
movies, and dance lessons; and |
|
WHEREAS, Heritage Senior Center provides an important outlet |
|
for the senior population in the area to stay active, keep informed, |
|
and meet new people, and this notable facility truly merits special |
|
commendation for its contributions to the Irving community; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize Irving Heritage Senior Center and |
|
extend to all associated with the center sincere best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the center as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
