R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Tax Assessor-Collectors Association |
|
of Texas are visiting the State Capitol on February 10, 2009, and |
|
this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to pay tribute to this |
|
noteworthy organization; and |
|
WHEREAS, TACA was established in 1934, with the mission to |
|
secure the benefits of an organized effort, exchange ideas and |
|
discuss mutual problems, and maintain the efficiency of the county |
|
tax offices; the group also promotes professional standards among |
|
its members and encourages them to become aware of legislative |
|
issues and to participate in the process; and |
|
WHEREAS, The organization consists of elected tax assessors |
|
and sheriffs who perform their duties for the state's 254 counties, |
|
as well as a majority of the cities and school districts; these |
|
public servants collect billions of dollars in tax revenue for the |
|
entities they represent, and as agents for the Texas Department of |
|
Transportation, they are responsible for distributing motor |
|
vehicle licenses and titles; in addition, many of the tax assessors |
|
act as the voter registrar for their respective counties; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Tax Assessor-Collectors Association of Texas is |
|
a vital group of individuals who are committed to serving their |
|
fellow citizens, and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize the |
|
organization for its many contributions to the Lone Star State; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor the Tax Assessor-Collectors Association |
|
of Texas for its valuable service to the state and welcome the |
|
visiting delegation to the Capitol; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for TACA as an expression of high regard by the Texas House |
|
of Representatives. |
