R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Daisy Lee Simmons-Ransom of San Antonio celebrated |
|
her 70th birthday on March 12, 2008; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Dahl and Daisy Bell Simmons, Daisy |
|
Ransom shares her birthday with her twin brother, Rueben; born in |
|
Porter, Oklahoma, she later moved with her family to Tulsa, where |
|
she attended school; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1958, Mrs. Ransom adopted San Antonio as her home |
|
when she became a military wife; she received numerous awards and |
|
honors for her achievements during the time she worked at J. C. |
|
Penney and at Kelly Air Force Base, from which she retired; today, |
|
she works to guide and inspire young people in her role as a |
|
substitute teacher with the San Antonio Independent School |
|
District; and |
|
WHEREAS, The devoted mother of three children, Carmen, |
|
Judith, and Gerald, Mrs. Ransom has welcomed two sons-in-law and a |
|
daughter-in-law into her family, and takes great pleasure in |
|
sharing her wisdom and affection with her beloved grandchildren and |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Always seen wearing an angel pin on her lapel, Mrs. |
|
Ransom is well known for her compassion and her willingness to help |
|
those in need; a devout Christian, she is an active member of |
|
Greater Corinth Baptist Church and finds great fulfillment in |
|
sharing her faith with others; in her leisure time, she enjoys |
|
attending garage sales and acquiring new pieces for her collection |
|
of cookie jars; and |
|
WHEREAS, Daisy Ransom is cherished by all who know her for her |
|
kindness and generosity and her birthday celebration provided a |
|
welcome opportunity for her loved ones to share with her a small bit |
|
of the joy she has imparted to others throughout her life; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Daisy Lee Simmons-Ransom on the |
|
milestone of her 70th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|
for continued happiness and good fortune; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Ransom as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
