R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Menchaca Elementary School received special |
|
|
recognition from the Austin Independent School District for its |
|
|
outstanding achievements in mathematics during the 2007-2008 |
|
|
school year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This notable institution has earned distinction by |
|
|
participating in the district's strategic compensation initiative |
|
|
known as REACH, which was designed to help Austin ISD recruit and |
|
|
retain exceptional staff; the REACH program supports and rewards |
|
|
educators from designated schools based on classroom performance, |
|
|
and through its student growth component, teachers and principals |
|
|
receive stipend payments if their pupils' scores on the Texas |
|
|
Assessment of Knowledge and Skills test display significant |
|
|
progress; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The principal of Menchaca Elementary, John Rocha, |
|
|
and nearly 50 teachers were honored for their efforts to raise |
|
|
students' scores on the TAKS test, which resulted in campus-wide |
|
|
gains for the 2007-2008 school year; with this recent |
|
|
accomplishment, the staff of Menchaca Elementary have helped the |
|
|
student body realize its goal of boosting mathematical competency, |
|
|
and they have contributed to the overall success of the Austin ISD |
|
|
REACH pilot program; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The esteemed educators of Menchaca Elementary |
|
|
School have committed themselves to improving the academic |
|
|
performance of their students, and with their dedication and hard |
|
|
work, they are building a solid foundation for the future |
|
|
achievement of these fine young Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Menchaca Elementary School on its |
|
|
exemplary performance in the Austin ISD REACH program and extend to |
|
|
its staff and students sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Menchaca Elementary School as an expression of high |
|
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
