R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Medina Valley High School Air Force
  JROTC are visiting the State Capitol on February 10, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 2000, the TX-20009th Air Force JROTC
  program at the school has expanded through the years, and MVHS Air
  Force JROTC cadets have distinguished themselves through their
  participation in the NASA High School Aerospace Scholars program,
  the Texas A&M Junior Cadet Accessions Program, Summer Leadership
  School, and the Military Order of the World Wars Southwest Youth
  Leadership Conference; today, one seventh period each month is
  allotted for a Corps Commanders Call, and members are also invited
  to attend the Aviation Honors private pilot ground school course,
  which is dual credited with Palo Alto College; and
         WHEREAS, They have served the greater community by sharing
  time with Adopt-a-Highway, Fourth of July and Veterans Day
  festivities, and Regional Park cleanups, and they have helped
  current and future members through the establishment of a tutor and
  mentoring program, wherein volunteers from Air Force Village II
  share their knowledge and guidance with cadets; in addition, they
  have honored the memory of fallen soldiers with the Heroes Plaza
  Memorial, dedicated in honor of a former cadet who was killed in
  Iraq; and
         WHEREAS, In January 2009, the group underwent an inspection
  by the AFJROTC area administrator and earned the highest possible
  rating of "Exceeds Standards"; and
         WHEREAS, The outstanding young men and women of the MVHS Air
  Force JROTC have demonstrated the importance of hard work and
  dedication in building an accomplished program, and they are a
  source of pride to their school and community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby welcome the Medina Valley High School Air Force
  JROTC to the State Capitol and extend to its members sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
