R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
|
by a great and enduring love, Eugene and Molly Lewis of Midland |
|
|
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 3, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Eugene Lewis and the former Molly Huggins were |
|
|
united in matrimony at Primitive Baptist Church in Midland in 1959; |
|
|
through the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that |
|
|
has been made even richer with the addition of their children, |
|
|
D. Lewis, Monica Threlkel, and Eric Lewis; they have been further |
|
|
blessed with five grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis were residents of Midland from |
|
|
1959 until 1966, when they moved to Irving; in 1975, they returned |
|
|
to Midland; Mr. Lewis is a retired diesel mechanic who worked for |
|
|
the Midland Fire Department, Darr Equipment Company, and Permian |
|
|
Corporation; Mrs. Lewis worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance and |
|
|
retired from Marathon Oil Corporation in 1999; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|
|
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|
|
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love |
|
|
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with |
|
|
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Eugene and Molly Lewis on their |
|
|
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes |
|
|
for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Lewis as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
