R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The decisive actions of Shaun Patrick Mulligan on |
|
|
May 21, 2008, helped save a toddler from near drowning; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Mulligan and his friend, Jacob Chavez, both |
|
|
juniors at Cedar Park High School, were walking outside Mr. |
|
|
Mulligan's apartment complex when they heard shouts coming from the |
|
|
pool area; they hurried to the scene, where a lifeless child was |
|
|
being pulled out of the water; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Recognizing the need for emergency assistance, Mr. |
|
|
Mulligan dashed to the emergency call box; when it wouldn't open, he |
|
|
quickly broke off the cover and called for help; meanwhile, Mr. |
|
|
Chavez performed CPR on the victim, and by the time the paramedics |
|
|
arrived, the child's pulse had returned; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Shaun Patrick Mulligan responded to a critical |
|
|
situation with composure and speed, and thanks in part to his heroic |
|
|
efforts, a tragedy was successfully averted; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Shaun Mulligan for his vital role in |
|
|
saving a toddler from near drowning and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Mulligan as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
