R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may
  comfort those saddened by the death of Myrtle Ann Smith of San
  Antonio on June 16, 2008, at the age of 72; and
         WHEREAS, Born in York County, Virginia, on October 1, 1935,
  to Charles and Della Crump, the former Myrtle Crump graduated from
  Bruton Heights School in Williamsburg; and
         WHEREAS, She was joined in matrimony to Audrey Buster Smith,
  and the couple shared 49 fulfilling years as husband and wife until
  his passing in 2002; during the course of their marriage, Myrtle and
  Audrey Smith lived in Manor, where six children were born to them,
  and in San Antonio; and
         WHEREAS, After the family moved to the Alamo City, Mrs. Smith
  earned a degree from the Baptist School of Nursing and established a
  career as a licensed vocational nurse with the city's Metropolitan
  Health District; and
         WHEREAS, From the time she settled in San Antonio, Mrs. Smith
  was a faithful member at New Union Missionary Baptist Church; she
  served her fellow congregants as finance and mission secretary,
  funeral coordinator, member of the senior choir, and youth
  department volunteer; this esteemed Texan also studied at the
  Guadalupe District School of Religion; and
         WHEREAS, Myrtle Smith lived a caring and purposeful life, and
  she will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of those
  fortunate enough to have shared in her love and friendship; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Myrtle Ann Smith and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her sons
  and daughters-in-law, Audrey "Doonie" Smith, Jr., and his wife,
  Meland, Gregory Smith and his wife, Dianitha, Robert Smith and his
  wife, Lynette, Michael Smith and his wife, Lesie, and Jacob Smith
  and his wife, Karen; to her parents, Charles and Della Crump; to her
  siblings and their spouses, Juanita Achols and her husband, Billy,
  Catherine West and her husband, Walter, Phyllis Cain, and Harold
  Crump and his wife, Elaine; to her 23 grandchildren and 31
  great-grandchildren; and to her many other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Myrtle Ann
  Smith.
