R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close when Dorothy
  Cunningham of San Antonio died on September 7, 2008, at the age of
  63; and
         WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio on January 31, 1945, to Hollie
  and Earnestine Washington, Dorothy Washington was educated in the
  public schools; she joined the Israelite Baptist Church at an early
  age and was a dedicated congregant there throughout her life; and
         WHEREAS, She married Willie Cunningham, Jr., and with him
  shared a rewarding relationship that continued until his passing;
  Mrs. Cunningham was the devoted mother of five children, Frances,
  Leroy, Mark, and Karen, as well as Darryl, who preceded her in
  death; this caring woman delighted in spending time with her
  family, which also included stepchildren, grandchildren, and
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of her career, Mrs. Cunningham
  worked with the Salvation Army and served as an apartment manager
  for more than 30 years; in that capacity, she provided guidance and
  encouragement to residents, many of whom were struggling with
  various challenges; and
         WHEREAS, Dorothy Cunningham led a caring and purposeful life
  of service, and she will forever hold a treasured place in the
  hearts of her family and friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dorothy Cunningham
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  children, Frances "Renee" Wright and her husband, George, Leroy
  Cunningham, Mark Cunningham, and Karen "K.K." Cunningham and her
  husband, Elton; to her stepchildren, Kenneth Anderson and Joshua
  Cunningham; to her grandchildren, LaQuita, Capresiah, Willie, and
  Luetta; to her step-grandchildren, Christopher, Javon, Jasmine,
  and Jakai; to her great-grandchildren, Dewayne, Donovan, Alana, and
  Ari; to her sister, Anita Haskell, and her husband, Leroy; to her
  brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Beverly Johnson, Michael
  and Anne Washington, and Anthony and Stephane Johnson; to her
  aunts, Katherine Tutson and Mary Frances Harris; and to her other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dorothy
  Cunningham.
