R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The passing of Leonora Rodriguez Castellanos of San
  Antonio on November 5, 2008, at the age of 89, brought a profound
  loss to the family and friends of this esteemed woman; and
         WHEREAS, Born on September 17, 1919, "Nora" Castellanos lived
  a caring and purposeful life; she was a devoted and loving wife to
  Jose Lopez Castellanos, whom she married on April 13, 1941, and with
  whom she shared nearly seven decades; the couple became the parents
  of six treasured children, Josephine Garza, Diana Martinez,
  Margaret Reyna, Irene Bernal, Joseph Castellanos, and Veronica
  Cisneros; through the years, Mr. and Mrs. Castellanos also welcomed
  23 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 3
  great-great-grandchildren into their family; and
         WHEREAS, Nora Castellanos served her community with zeal,
  winning numerous accolades for her contributions to civic life and
  never hesitating to give of her time; passionately committed to
  political causes, she joined with six other women to found the
  League of United Latin American Citizens Council 282 in San
  Antonio; moreover, this dynamic Texan was a delegate to the
  Democratic National Convention in the 1970s, served as a mediator
  for the Bexar County Mediation Center, and was a founding member of
  the Carver Cultural Center; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her responsibilities as a wife and
  mother, Mrs. Castellanos served as a case worker for the Texas
  Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation; she was also an
  excellent seamstress and served as secretary to the parish priests
  at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where she was a
  valued member; and
         WHEREAS, An inspiring role model, Nora Castellanos lived a
  life of service to her family and her community, and she will be
  forever remembered by all who were privileged to share in the
  richness of her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Leonora Rodriguez
  Castellanos and extend deepest sympathy to her family and to her
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Leonora
  Rodriguez Castellanos.
