R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Permian High School Band of Odessa has been |
|
|
selected as a recipient of the 2008 Sudler Flag of Honor award from |
|
|
the John Philip Sousa Foundation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by Louis and Virginia Sudler, this |
|
|
international award is given to high school band programs that have |
|
|
demonstrated particularly high standards of excellence in concert |
|
|
activities over a period of several years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the astute leadership of director Michael |
|
|
Watts, the Permian band became one of only four groups in the United |
|
|
States to earn the award in 2008; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These talented and dedicated young Texans have |
|
|
proven themselves worthy of international attention, and they may |
|
|
always remember this notable achievement with great pride; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Michael Watts and the members of |
|
|
the Permian High School Band on their receipt of a 2008 Sudler Flag |
|
|
of Honor from the John Philip Sousa Foundation and extend to them |
|
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Watts and the band as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
