R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the friends and family
  of Sylvia Elois Hadley-Jones, who passed away on April 17, 2008, at
  the age of 51; and
         WHEREAS, "Susta" Hadley-Jones was born in San Antonio on
  November 19, 1956, to Thomas and Josephine Hadley; she attended Sam
  Houston High School, where she played clarinet with the Cherokee
  Band, sang in the choir, and served in student government; after
  graduation, she went on to attend Texas Christian University in
  Fort Worth; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Hadley-Jones had a notable career with
  Southwestern Bell, and during her 20-year tenure, she received a
  number of awards for her outstanding work in sales and customer
  service; she later returned to school, earning her bachelor's
  degree in business administration from Texas A&M
  University--Kingsville; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her professional pursuits, Mrs.
  Hadley-Jones helped to organize the Homegirls Club of Fort Worth
  and charter the Kappa Lambda chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
  Inc., at TCU; she further gave of her time to the congregation at
  Beth Eden Missionary Baptist Church, where she was president of the
  choir, an orientation teacher, drill team matron, and a member of
  the Culinary Committee, the Original Evangelistic Team, and the
  pastoral relations group; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Hadley-Jones was also devoted to her family; a
  constant source of strength and comfort to her beloved daughter,
  Amy Kristen, she was also a blessing to her granddaughter, Jayla;
  and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Susta
  Hadley-Jones will long remember her for her joyful and
  compassionate spirit, and although she will be greatly missed, her
  legacy will live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives she
  touched; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Sylvia Elois
  Hadley-Jones and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her
  family: to her daughter, Amy; to her granddaughter, Jayla; to her
  mother, Josephine; to her brothers, Thomas, Timothy, and his wife,
  Eunice, and David; to her sister, Rosalind; to her nieces, Maile,
  Lynicia Racheal, and Melina; to her nephews, Timothy, Merrill, and
  Brandon; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sylvia
  Elois Hadley-Jones.
