R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Earlean Anderson Lang Mitchell of San Antonio
  celebrated the joyous occasion of her 80th birthday on July 14,
  2008; and
         WHEREAS, A native of the Lone Star State, Mrs. Mitchell was
  born in Jacksonville in 1928; she graduated from Emmett Scott High
  School in 1944 and went on to attend Tillotson College, Texas
  College, Texas Southern University, and Southwest Texas State
  University; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Mitchell served as a secretary to the Smith
  County agricultural agents and the Tyler school district before
  relocating to San Antonio in 1960; after a tenure with St. Philip's
  College, she joined the staff at Kelly Air Force Base, and during
  her notable 27-year career she served in Vietnam, Greece, and
  Germany; and
         WHEREAS, Today, she enjoys the love and affection of her
  daughters, Linda Lang Yates, LePaula Lang Jarmon, and Gloria Lang
  Jones and her husband, Jim, as well as four grandchildren, Matari
  Jones Gunter, Jibri Jones, Kisha Yates Harper, and Jabari Yates,
  and two great-grandchildren, Aneesa Harper and Theodore Henry
  Gunter; and
         WHEREAS, A valued member of her community, Mrs. Mitchell
  attends Porter Memorial C.M.E. Church, where she serves her
  congregation as a member of the stewardess board, missionary
  society, and finance office; in her free time, she enjoys traveling
  and spending time with family and friends; and
         WHEREAS, Earlean Mitchell's 80th birthday provided a welcome
  opportunity for her loved ones to share with her a small bit of the
  joy she has imparted to others throughout her life and to remind her
  of the high regard in which she is held; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Earlean Anderson Lang Mitchell on her 80th
  birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Mitchell as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
