R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
  of Thurman H. Sargent, Jr., of San Antonio, who passed away on May
  30, 2007, at the age of 76; and
         WHEREAS, A native of the Alamo City, Mr. Sargent became the
  fourth generation in his family to live on the original family
  homestead along the banks of Salado Creek; he was dedicated to
  maintaining the creek, working with neighbors, the state
  legislature, and city officials in efforts to curb flooding; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Sargent served as president of such worthy
  groups as the Salado Valley Neighborhood Association and the
  Northeast Coalition, an organization he established to bring
  together residents from the Austin Highway, Perrin-Beitel, Walzem,
  and I-35 areas of San Antonio; in addition, he shared his time with
  the San Antonio Metropolitan Ministry shelter and the local chapter
  of Meals on Wheels, which he also helped to establish; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Mr.
  Sargent worked with the United States Postal Service, Southwestern
  Bell, and AT&T before retiring; throughout all his endeavors, he
  enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Darlene, and his four
  children; and
         WHEREAS, Thurman Sargent made a positive difference in his
  community, and though he is deeply missed, he has left behind a
  legacy to treasure for those who held him dear; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Thurman H. Sargent,
  Jr., and extend deepest sympathy to his family: to his wife, Darlene
  Sargent; to his children, Sharron Sargent Warden, Sandy Sargent
  Enders, Catheryn Sargent Ladd, and Thurman Keith Sargent; to his
  seven grandchildren and his great-grandchild; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Thurman H.
  Sargent, Jr.
