R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For nearly three decades, Command Master Chief James
  Brown has served this country with distinction as a member of the
  U.S. Navy; and
         WHEREAS, James Brown followed in his father's footsteps when
  he enlisted in the navy; joining through a delayed entry program
  while still a junior at Conroe High School, he left home for
  training in San Diego, California, shortly after his graduation in
  1982; and
         WHEREAS, During his notable 27-year tenure, Command Master
  Chief Brown has served aboard a number of ships and been around the
  world, visiting ports across Europe, as well as Russia and China; he
  has also served ashore with the U.S. Naval Computer and
  Telecommunications Station Diego Garcia, Navy Personnel Command in
  Tennessee, and the U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area
  Master Station Europe Central in Naples, Italy; and
         WHEREAS, Command Master Chief Brown has garnered a host of
  commendations for his service, including the Navy and Marine Corps
  Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal; and
         WHEREAS, Currently, this notable serviceman is the senior
  enlisted advisor on all duties aboard the USS Barry; but his days at
  sea are drawing to a close in early 2009, when he begins a new
  assignment at the Houston Naval Recruiting Station; and
         WHEREAS, Command Master Chief Brown is looking forward to
  putting down roots in the Bayou City; he plans to finish his
  bachelor's degree and to take part in all that land has to offer,
  including the Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Houston Marathon;
  and
         WHEREAS, James Brown exemplifies the highest standards of the
  U.S. Navy, and his outstanding efforts in this country's behalf are
  deserving of his fellow citizens' deepest gratitude; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Command Master Chief James Brown on his
  service in the U.S. Navy and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Chief Brown as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
