R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The death of Diana Louise Cooke of Waco on November
  12, 2008, at the age of 43, brought a tremendous loss to her family
  and friends; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Waco on December 10, 1964, Ms. Cooke was a
  devoted mother to Tabitha, Sara, and Christopher and a valued
  member of Victorious Life Church; she was also a state employee who
  worked for the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental
  Retardation; and
         WHEREAS, The local chapter of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure
  organization selected Ms. Cooke to serve as a co-chair for its race
  in 2008; Ms. Cooke was a powerful advocate for early detection of
  breast cancer, appearing on television station KWTX to talk about
  the importance of annual mammograms and remind women to consult
  with their physicians quickly about anything unusual; and
         WHEREAS, Inspired by the brave optimism Ms. Cooke displayed,
  her fellow Race for the Cure volunteers helped her celebrate a
  joyous family occasion; learning that her daughter Tabitha was
  changing her marriage plans because of the expense of her mother's
  medication, they pitched in to arrange her dream wedding; Ms. Cooke
  proudly walked her daughter down the aisle and shared a dance with
  her at the reception; and
         WHEREAS, Diana Cooke met the greatest adversity with
  remarkable courage; she made a positive difference in her community
  through her determination to educate others about breast cancer,
  and she will long be remembered by all who were privileged to know
  her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature pay special tribute to the life of Diana Louise Cooke
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  daughters, Tabitha Bermudez and her husband, Luis, and Sara
  Albright; to her son, Christopher Maddux; to her sisters, Judy
  Andrews, Cynthia Larrow, Robin Colvin, and Paula Maddux; to her
  brother, Gary Maddux; and to her other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Diana
  Cooke.
