R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Judith Ann Francis of Waco
  on December 31, 2008, has brought a profoundly felt loss to her
  family members and many friends; and
         WHEREAS, Born on June 25, 1944, in Fort Worth, the former
  Judith Witt graduated from Houston High School and earned a
  bachelor's degree from Baylor University, where she was active in
  the CHI'S Service Sorority; she went on to pursue a career in
  education with her alma mater, teaching English at the university
  for 30 years; and
         WHEREAS, A valued member of the First Presbyterian Church in
  Waco, Mrs. Francis served the congregation as a deacon and elder,
  and she enjoyed the fellowship of the First Ladies Bible Study; she
  further shared her time with the Gospel Cafe, Committee on
  Ministries for Grace Presbytery, and Caritas Ministries, which she
  served as a member of the board and as secretary; and
         WHEREAS, Her volunteerism also extended to the Baylor
  chapters of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and CHI'S Service Sorority, and
  to the Development Council of Texas A&M University's College of
  Veterinary Medicine; and
         WHEREAS, Above all else, Mrs. Francis was dedicated to her
  family, and she enjoyed more than four decades of marriage with her
  beloved husband, Dan Francis; and
         WHEREAS, The life of Judith Ann Francis was characterized by
  her devotion to helping others, and the memory of her kindness and
  generosity will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of all
  those whose lives she touched; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Judith Ann Francis and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  husband, Dan Francis; to her sister, Sharon Lyles, and her husband,
  Gary; to her sister-in-law, Ann Joseph; to her niece, Sally Joseph;
  to her nephews, Craig Lyles and Earnest Joseph; to her special
  friend, Jerrie Callan; and to her other relatives and many friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Judith Ann
  Francis.
