R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The community of Bellville suffered a profound loss
  with the untimely passing of Harold Roger Luhn on December 19, 2008,
  at the age of 52; and
         WHEREAS, Born on June 10, 1956, to Roger and Florence Luhn,
  Harold Luhn was raised in Bellville and graduated from Bellville
  High School; his interest in agriculture inspired him to earn the
  Lone Star FFA degree from the Texas FFA Association in 1973, and he
  went on to receive the American FFA degree, the national
  organization's highest achievement, two years later; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Luhn made his living as a farmer and rancher, and
  he was active in a variety of agriculture-related activities,
  including the Austin County Fair, an event he had first
  participated in when he was an infant and his parents had carried
  him on horseback in the parade; as an adult, he kept up a family
  tradition started by his father by serving various administrative
  functions for the fair, including a three-year term as president,
  and in 2008, he had the honor of being the parade marshal for the
  81st annual fair parade; in addition, Mr. Luhn was vice chair of the
  Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go Texan Contest Committee and
  served as director of the Austin County Farm Bureau; respected
  throughout the state for his many contributions, he was named the
  2006 Volunteer of the Year by the Texas Association of Fairs and
  Events; and
         WHEREAS, This notable Texan married the former Rosie Reznicek
  in 1977, and the couple were blessed with two daughters, Laurie and
  Shawna; a devoted husband and father, Mr. Luhn cherished the time he
  spent with his children and adored his two granddaughters; he was
  also an antique tractor enthusiast, and his knowledge of farm
  machinery allowed him to collaborate on the development of an
  innovative hay-baling device; and
         WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Luhn was a parishioner
  at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Bellville and a member of
  the Holy Name Society, and his many civic contributions were
  honored with his selection as Lions Club Citizen of the Year in
  2007; and
         WHEREAS, Harold Luhn brightened the lives of countless people
  during his time on this earth, and though he will be greatly missed,
  memories of his generosity and dedication will forever be cherished
  by those who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Harold Roger Luhn and
  extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Rosie Luhn; to his daughters and their spouses, Laurie Haseltine
  and her husband, William, and Shawna Svinky and her husband,
  Michael; to his grandchildren, Mary and Amy Haseltine; to his
  mother, Florence Luhn; to his brother, Fred Luhn, and his wife,
  Sherry; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Harold
  Roger Luhn.
