R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Youth Appreciation Week, sponsored by the South |
|
|
Central Texas District of Optimist International, honors young |
|
|
Texans for their achievements in the arts, sciences, humanities, |
|
|
and other areas of scholastic and civic distinction; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The ceremonies, scheduled for March 29, 2009, |
|
|
involve the 20 Optimist Clubs that serve the Greater Capital Area |
|
|
district; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, High school students will be presented with awards |
|
|
for noteworthy performances in individual academic categories and |
|
|
outstanding accomplishments in sports, music, public service, and |
|
|
other extracurricular activities; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives heartily |
|
|
commends the efforts of the Optimist Clubs in encouraging area |
|
|
youth and fully supports the goals of Youth Appreciation Week; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby grant the South Central Texas District of |
|
|
Optimist International permission to use the house chamber, |
|
|
provided that the house is not in session and subject to house rules |
|
|
and policies of the Committee on House Administration, from 2 p.m. |
|
|
to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2009, for the purpose of holding an |
|
|
awards ceremony in connection with Youth Appreciation Week. |
