R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
|
by a great and enduring love, Dewey and Daphne Baucum of Midland |
|
|
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 22, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dewey Baucum and the former Daphne Newman were |
|
|
united in matrimony at Grove Hill Methodist Church near Leonard on |
|
|
that special day in 1959; through the years, they have nurtured a |
|
|
fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the |
|
|
addition of three children, Beth, Denise, and David, five |
|
|
grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Baucum worked for Midland Independent School |
|
|
District as an agriculture teacher until his retirement; Mrs. |
|
|
Baucum is a homemaker; the couple are members of St. Paul United |
|
|
Methodist Church in Midland; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|
|
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|
|
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love |
|
|
has enabled them to meet life's challenges with grace and optimism; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dewey and Daphne Baucum on the |
|
|
occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Baucum as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
