H.R. No. 652

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The well-being of the citizens of Texas depends on economic prosperity throughout the state, and independent businesses that employ Texans and contribute to local economies are important components of a prosperous future; and

WHEREAS, Ware Chevrolet Buick Pontiac has served Wheeler residents for six decades, and the business is celebrating the anniversary of its founding on May 1, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Established as Ware Chevrolet in 1949 by N. D. and Kate Ware, this notable Panhandle dealership has increased its size and offerings through the years; today, after three moves, the business operates out of a facility on the southern edge of Wheeler, and it has expanded its line of cars to include Buick and Pontiac; and

WHEREAS, A number of Ware family members have staffed the business since its opening, including N. D. Ware, Jr., and his wife, Roberta, Betty and Bob McNeil, Bob, Kent, and Gary Ware and his wife, Tresa, Danny McNeil, and Norma McNeil Keelin and her husband, Gene; also helping to maintain the success of the dealership are Donnie Shorter, Willie Stowe, Martha Patterson, and Harold Morgan; and

WHEREAS, After 60 years of operation, Ware Chevrolet Buick Pontiac continues to make an important contribution to the Wheeler area, and it is a pleasure to honor the company during this milestone year; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Ware Chevrolet Buick Pontiac and extend to all those associated with the enterprise sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the business as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
