R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Mayor John David Franz of Hidalgo has been justly |
|
honored for his dedication to the prosperity of his community with |
|
his selection as Border Texan of the Year for 2009 by the Hidalgo |
|
Chamber of Commerce; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in McAllen, John Franz attended school in |
|
Hidalgo before graduating from McAllen High School at the age of 16; |
|
he was appointed to a judgeship on the Hidalgo Municipal Court at |
|
age 18, and he began his tenure as mayor in 1990; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mayor Franz has worked tirelessly to improve the |
|
quality of life for the citizens of Hidalgo during his time in |
|
office and has furthered that goal by taking a leadership role in |
|
numerous civic organizations; he is president of the City of |
|
Hidalgo Texas Municipal Facilities Corporation and has served as a |
|
director of the Hidalgo Economic Development Corporation since his |
|
first year as mayor; moreover, he is a member of the boards of |
|
directors for both the Anzalduas and the McAllen-Hidalgo-Reynosa |
|
International Bridges and has contributed to numerous committees of |
|
economic and social significance to the region; his attention to |
|
statewide issues has included a six-year term on the Texas Board of |
|
Criminal Justice; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, John Franz has proven |
|
himself an assured leader who has helped guide his city through an |
|
era of tremendous growth and change, and his efforts have had an |
|
enduring and positive impact on South Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Mayor John David Franz on his |
|
selection as 2009 Border Texan of the Year and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mayor Franz as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
