R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Mesquite Independent School District Education |
|
|
Foundation is holding its third annual fund-raising gala on March |
|
|
7, 2009; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established by the MISD Board of Trustees in 2004, |
|
|
the Mesquite ISD Education Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the |
|
|
studies of area young people; the group solicits donations from |
|
|
alumni, citizens, businesses, and other organizations in an effort |
|
|
to provide enrichment opportunities for both teachers and students; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The foundation seeks to create a permanent endowment |
|
|
to supplement public education dollars; it received its first |
|
|
donation in December 2004, and by June 2007, it had raised more than |
|
|
$800,000 and awarded $400,000 in initiatives and grants; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Headlined by Three Dog Night, the Lone Star Legacy |
|
|
benefit is expected to draw nearly 10,000 attendees in support of |
|
|
the foundation and its worthwhile cause; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Mesquite ISD Education Foundation is to be |
|
|
commended for fostering an improved educational environment, one |
|
|
that will make a positive difference in students' lives for years to |
|
|
come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor the Mesquite Independent School District |
|
|
Education Foundation on the occasion of its third annual |
|
|
fund-raising gala and extend sincere best wishes to all those |
|
|
involved with the organization for continued success with their |
|
|
important work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the foundation as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
