R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas State Trooper Todd Dylan Holmes of Gilmer was |
|
|
killed in the line of duty on March 14, 2007, at the age of 29, and |
|
|
his untimely death was a tragic loss to his family, to his fellow |
|
|
peace officers, and to the residents of his community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Todd Holmes was born on September 29, 1977, in |
|
|
Plainview; he served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy from |
|
|
1996 until 2000; following his discharge, he worked as a jailer with |
|
|
the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Department before his acceptance |
|
|
into the Department of Public Safety training academy in 2005; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Married to Stephanie Dawn Pirtle since October 21, |
|
|
2000, Trooper Holmes was committed to his family and to his faith; |
|
|
he enjoyed spending time with his children and volunteering at |
|
|
Gilmer Church of Christ, where he was a valued member; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This courageous Texan exemplified the highest |
|
|
standards of his profession, and he will long be remembered for his |
|
|
profound dedication to public service and his tireless efforts in |
|
|
behalf of his fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Texas State Trooper |
|
|
Todd Dylan Holmes and extend sincere sympathy to his many loved |
|
|
ones; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of State |
|
|
Trooper Todd Holmes. |
