R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Lieutenant Victor Rocha, Engineer Clark Gridley,
  and Fire Rescue Officer Fred Fite of the Del Rio Fire and Rescue
  Department have each been presented with the department's Medal of
  Honor for saving the life of an elderly man; and
         WHEREAS, On June 27, 2008, these three highly trained members
  of Engine 3 company answered an emergency medical call and found an
  elderly gentleman who showed no vital signs; and
         WHEREAS, Acting quickly, Lieutenant Rocha and Engineer
  Gridley began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the man
  while Officer Fite readied an automated external defibrillator;
  they administered a shock and revived the patient; and
         WHEREAS, While the man was being transported to a waiting
  ambulance, a second shock was administered, and the patient arrived
  at the hospital breathing with assistance; thanks to the skillful
  efforts of the three firefighters, he survived and was subsequently
  released and reunited with his family; and
         WHEREAS, The citizens of Texas owe their first responders an
  enormous debt of gratitude for the lifesaving deeds they perform
  every day, and the swift and sure action taken by Lieutenant Rocha,
  Engineer Gridley, and Fire Rescue Officer Fite is truly deserving
  of recognition and acclaim; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Victor Rocha, Clark Gridley, and
  Fred Fite of the Del Rio Fire and Rescue Department on their receipt
  of the department's Medal of Honor and extend to them sincere best
  wishes for continued success with their vital work; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for each of these men as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
