R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Hank Rush has been named president and CEO of the |
|
Star of Hope Mission in Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1907, Star of Hope provides food and |
|
shelter to nearly 1,000 homeless men, women, and children each day; |
|
the mission also offers support and solace through programs in |
|
spiritual growth, employment assistance, job training, recovery |
|
from substance abuse, and others; and |
|
WHEREAS, Hank Rush is a graduate of executive management |
|
programs at Harvard University and Pennsylvania State University; |
|
he has been a successful businessman in Houston for 35 years, |
|
holding management positions with Texas Eastern Corporation, BMC |
|
Software, and Stewart Title Company; he is also a member of the |
|
boards of AmREIT and Bradmark Technologies; and |
|
WHEREAS, For three decades, this caring gentleman has given |
|
back to his community through his service with the Children's Fund, |
|
the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County, and the |
|
IBM Business Partnership for Persons with Disabilities; he is also |
|
an active member of Second Baptist Church and sits on the board of |
|
the Houston Symphony; and |
|
WHEREAS, Hank Rush has long proven himself to be a dynamic and |
|
compassionate community leader, and as he takes charge of Star of |
|
Hope Mission, his long experience, steady judgment, and generous |
|
spirit will contribute greatly to the important work of this vital |
|
Houston institution; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Hank Rush on his appointment as |
|
president and CEO of the Star of Hope Mission and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for success in his new endeavor; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Rush as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
