R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Hank Rush has been named president and CEO of the
  Star of Hope Mission in Houston; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1907, Star of Hope provides food and
  shelter to nearly 1,000 homeless men, women, and children each day;
  the mission also offers support and solace through programs in
  spiritual growth, employment assistance, job training, recovery
  from substance abuse, and others; and
         WHEREAS, Hank Rush is a graduate of executive management
  programs at Harvard University and Pennsylvania State University;
  he has been a successful businessman in Houston for 35 years,
  holding management positions with Texas Eastern Corporation, BMC
  Software, and Stewart Title Company; he is also a member of the
  boards of AmREIT and Bradmark Technologies; and
         WHEREAS, For three decades, this caring gentleman has given
  back to his community through his service with the Children's Fund,
  the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County, and the
  IBM Business Partnership for Persons with Disabilities; he is also
  an active member of Second Baptist Church and sits on the board of
  the Houston Symphony; and
         WHEREAS, Hank Rush has long proven himself to be a dynamic and
  compassionate community leader, and as he takes charge of Star of
  Hope Mission, his long experience, steady judgment, and generous
  spirit will contribute greatly to the important work of this vital
  Houston institution; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Hank Rush on his appointment as
  president and CEO of the Star of Hope Mission and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for success in his new endeavor; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Rush as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
