R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love |
|
and shared experiences, and Norris and Martha Barnard of Houston |
|
celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on May 31, 2008; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Norris Barnard and the former Martha Faires met on a |
|
blind date while attending East Texas State University and were |
|
joined in matrimony in 1958 at a ceremony held at the First Baptist |
|
Church in Gilmer; through the years, they have been blessed with a |
|
treasured family that includes two daughters, Cindy Guerrero and |
|
Ginger Hollien, a son-in-law, Gary Hollien, and a granddaughter, |
|
Caroline; and |
|
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. Barnard is |
|
retired after 26 years with the Kroger Company and a notable tenure |
|
with American General Life Insurance Company and Mrs. Barnard is a |
|
retired English and speech teacher; in addition to meeting their |
|
work and family responsibilities, they have been active in their |
|
neighborhood association and are valued members of White Oak |
|
Baptist Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, This devoted couple have enjoyed half a century of |
|
abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an |
|
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|
commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Norris and Martha Barnard on their 50th |
|
wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Barnard as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
