R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Mary
  Rosalie Freeman Birdsong of Plainview, who passed away on February
  2, 2009, at the age of 85; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of John W. and Chloe Strout Flipping,
  the former Rosalie Flipping was born on April 19, 1923, in Quanah;
  she grew up in Hart and later graduated from Springlake-Earth High
  School; in 1943, she was joined in marriage to E. C. Eldridge
  Freeman; the couple shared nearly four decades together and were
  blessed with a son, Mike; and
         WHEREAS, After her husband's death in 1981, Mrs. Freeman
  relocated to Plainview; fortunate enough to find love a second
  time, she married Tony Birdsong in 1991 and enjoyed more than a
  decade with him until his passing in 2006; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Freeman Birdsong held a career with H&R Block
  before her retirement; active in her community, she was a member of
  the Garland Street Church of Christ and the Home Demonstration
  Club; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan led a caring and purposeful
  life, and she will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of
  all those who shared in her love and friendship; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary Rosalie
  Freeman Birdsong and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her
  family: to her son, Judge Mike Freeman, and his wife, Karon; to her
  three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and to her other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary
  Rosalie Freeman Birdsong.
