R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Texas Hillel is holding its 11th annual Israel Block
  Party at The University of Texas at Austin on March 11, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, The Block Party offers students, faculty, and other
  members of the community an opportunity to learn about the unique
  relationship between Texas and Israel while spending an enjoyable
  day outdoors on the South Mall of the UT campus; the event features
  eight themed tents presenting different aspects of the country's
  culture, society, and contributions; and
         WHEREAS, Highlighting the green movement in Israel, the
  geography and environment tent will provide information about
  cutting-edge irrigation techniques and other innovations; other
  tents will house such exhibits as a display of vintage movie posters
  and trailers, demonstrations of Israeli technology, and an
  exploration of the strong alliance between the United States and
  Israel; and
         WHEREAS, For more than a decade the annual Israel Block Party
  has delighted thousands of Austinites of all ages, and this year's
  event promises to be a memorable and informative celebration; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize March 11, 2009, as Israel Block Party
  Day and extend to Texas Hillel and all sponsors and participants
  best wishes for a successful event; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Texas Hillel as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
