R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A delegation from Ed White Memorial High School in |
|
League City is visiting the State Capitol on March 12, 2009, and |
|
this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to honor the school |
|
and its parent organization, Bay Area Charter School, Inc.; and |
|
WHEREAS, Bay Area Charter School is a nonprofit, |
|
open-enrollment charter school community that serves 19 |
|
independent school districts in the Galveston Bay area; its mission |
|
is to foster the excitement of learning through an interactive |
|
educational environment that values the gifts and talents of every |
|
child and to encourage cooperation among students, parents, and the |
|
community, and its schools are guided by the principle that |
|
students learn best in project-based environments that focus on |
|
real world applications; and |
|
WHEREAS, Named in honor of the NASA astronaut, Ed White |
|
Memorial High School opened its doors in 1998; its classes are |
|
limited in size to 20 students, and the school is designed to |
|
address the individual needs of the students through a personalized |
|
curriculum; Ed White Memorial also features advanced placement and |
|
career and technology courses, online learning opportunities, and |
|
dual-enrollment courses offered in conjunction with College of the |
|
Mainland; and |
|
WHEREAS, Committed to its innovative, high quality system of |
|
education, Bay Area Charter School is helping its students succeed |
|
academically and realize their full potential, and in so doing, it |
|
is building a solid foundation for the future achievement of many |
|
young Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Bay Area Charter School, Inc., and extend |
|
a warm welcome to the representatives from Ed White Memorial High |
|
School who are present at the State Capitol today; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Bay Area Charter School as an expression of high regard |
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
