R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Students from the Canton Junior High School Gifted
  and Talented program are visiting the State Capitol on March 16,
  2009; and
         WHEREAS, These notable young Texans have proven themselves
  scholastically exceptional by maintaining A averages, earning
  nominations for the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in
  Washington, D.C., and excelling in a variety of extracurricular
  activities, including the student council, the Leo Club, and the
  county spelling bee; moreover, under the direction of sponsor
  Martakay Morgan, they have worked with elementary school students
  on a number of worthy projects and have demonstrated a concern and
  compassion for the greater community by raising money for the MDA
  fund and the St. Jude's Hospital fund, and by collecting toys for
  the Children's Medical Center of Dallas; and
         WHEREAS, The Texas Capitol is an ideal setting for students
  to discover the rich heritage of the Lone Star State and to gain
  insight into the workings of the state legislature, and it is a
  pleasure to recognize the visiting members of the Canton Junior
  High School community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby welcome Martakay Morgan and the Canton Junior
  High School Gifted and Talented program and commend them on their
  interest in state government; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Canton Junior High School delegation as an
  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
