R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, James Frank Pollard of San Angelo passed away on |
|
December 6, 2008, at the age of 77, and his family and multitude of |
|
friends mourn the loss of this larger-than-life Texan; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of the Lone Star State, Frank Pollard was |
|
born in Coleman in 1931; after attending the Colorado School of |
|
Mines and graduating from Texas Western University, he served his |
|
country in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Pollard went on to join the family oil business |
|
and participated in some of the most storied oil discoveries in |
|
Texas; this wildcatter made his luck by study and hard work, and he |
|
always had a book on hand to feed his quest for knowledge; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1962, he married his beloved Martha, with whom he |
|
had three children, Lisa, Jim, and the late Mark Pollard; they |
|
settled in Alpine and embraced life as a West Texas ranching family; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Affectionately dubbed "Daddy Frank," Frank Pollard |
|
was a man whose strength of character, innate wisdom, and keen wit |
|
left others inspired and enriched; though he will be deeply missed, |
|
his memory will live on in the hearts of the many whose lives he |
|
touched; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of James Frank Pollard |
|
and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his |
|
daughter, Lisa; to his son, Jim, and his wife, Wendy; to his |
|
grandchildren, Charles and Sophia; and to his other relatives and |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James Frank |
|
Pollard. |
