R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The year 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of the
  South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1984 with the assistance of the South
  Belt Community Improvement Committee, this member-funded
  organization has helped shepherd the region's growth and assisted
  local citizens in benefiting from new opportunities; and
         WHEREAS, In the decades that followed the chamber's creation,
  the group's forward-thinking members have welcomed the arrival of
  new industries and continued to build beneficial links between
  local entrepreneurs; moreover, it has been instrumental in such
  community improvement projects as the widening of the Fuqua and
  Scarsdale overpasses, beautification efforts, and the addition of a
  new post office; and
         WHEREAS, The South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce has
  also sponsored a number of memorable events, including the annual
  Night of Cuisine and Evening of Cuisine, an Independence Day
  celebration, a local beauty pageant, the South Belt Spectacular
  Cookoff, and Casino Night; in addition, the group is an active
  supporter of education, hosting school career days and offering
  scholarships to area students; and
         WHEREAS, Led by president Marie Flickinger, the South
  Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce is steadfast in its mission, and
  its members may take great pride in the group's history and many
  achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the South Belt-Ellington Chamber
  of Commerce on its 25th anniversary and extend to the chamber and
  its members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce as an
  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
