R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Benefit Pow Wow in Pasadena brings together
  Native American peoples in the Houston area every month for a
  celebration of their rich cultures, proud heritage, and deep
  spiritual roots; and
         WHEREAS, Texas has the fourth-largest population of Native
  Americans in the nation, and the pow wow provides a fine opportunity
  for Houston's Indians to share their history and beliefs with the
  general public and to pass their traditions to a new generation; and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by a new organization, United American
  Indian Tribes Houston, the monthly pow wow features ceremonial
  dances performed by members of various tribes in their traditional
  regalia; the event is open to anyone, and participants and visitors
  may also sample traditional foods and crafts; and
         WHEREAS, The Benefit Pow Wow plays an important role in
  maintaining the cultural vitality of the native peoples of Texas
  and contributes greatly to the robust diversity of the Lone Star
  State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize the monthly Benefit Pow Wow of United
  American Indian Tribes Houston and commend the event's organizers
  and participants for honoring traditions of Native American
  cultures; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for United American Indian Tribes Houston as an expression
  of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
