R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The decisive actions of Officer Dru Greer of the |
|
Pasadena Police Department helped save several people from a |
|
burning building in north Houston on February 19, 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, In the early morning hours, Officer Greer was |
|
transporting a juvenile in his patrol car when he noticed flames |
|
coming from a complex of small residences; and |
|
WHEREAS, Officer Greer immediately stopped his car and called |
|
the Houston Fire Department; he then began knocking on doors and |
|
assisting the building's occupants to safety; and |
|
WHEREAS, When the resident of one unit refused to believe |
|
Officer Greer and told him to go away, the officer kicked in the |
|
door and escorted the man from the building, saving his life; |
|
everyone Officer Greer assisted made it to safety, and no one was |
|
hurt; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dru Greer started with the Pasadena department as a |
|
dispatcher in 2004; although he has been a sworn officer for little |
|
more than a year, his bravery and decisiveness in a dangerous |
|
situation demonstrate that he has found his true calling in the |
|
field of law enforcement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Officer Dru Greer of the Pasadena Police |
|
Department for his courageous actions and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Officer Greer as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
