R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Residents of Wichita Falls lost a generous and
  dedicated public servant with the passing of John Curry on February
  17, 2009, at the age of 47; and
         WHEREAS, An alumnus of The University of Texas School of Law,
  Mr. Curry began his career in public service soon after his 1987
  graduation, when he joined Wichita County as an assistant public
  defender; his distinguished service in that position led to his
  promotion to chief public defender in 1992; throughout his 19-year
  tenure, he was known for his dedication, hard work, and the legal
  expertise he brought to the cases of everyone he represented; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Curry afforded those who retained his services
  the dignity and respect due to every human being, regardless of
  their circumstances; a kind man of strong principles and character,
  he did not judge people for past mistakes, nor did he hesitate to
  provide assistance to those in need; and
         WHEREAS, John Curry believed in protecting the rights of the
  underrepresented and less privileged members of his community, and
  he leaves behind a legacy of public service that will continue to
  inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st
  Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John Curry and
  extend deepest sympathy to all those who mourn his passing; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John Curry.
