R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Aviation Support Equipment Technician First Class
  Jay Ramsey Brown is retiring from the U.S. Navy on May 15, 2009,
  drawing to a close a distinguished career in service to this nation
  that has spanned more than 20 years; and
         WHEREAS, A native of El Paso, Jay Brown graduated from
  Eastwood High School in 1986 and joined the navy three years later;
  following boot camp in San Diego, California, he attended aviation
  support equipment technician school and received training in air
  conditioning maintenance; and
         WHEREAS, From 1990 to 1992, AS First Class Brown served with
  the Naval Air Station (NAS) Keflavik, Iceland, Aircraft
  Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD); after his first
  enlistment, he reported to NAS Jacksonville, Florida, AIMD, and
  completed schools in turbine engine, technical electric, and
  hydraulic maintenance; and
         WHEREAS, AS First Class Brown was later stationed at Point
  Mugu, California, and worked on an outlying landing field on San
  Nicolas Island; in 1998, he transferred to NAS Brunswick, Maine,
  AIMD, where he completed level two cryogenic school and became a
  quality assurance specialist; and
         WHEREAS, He reenlisted for the third time in 2001 and joined
  the Bureau of Naval Personnel Sea Duty Component in Dallas;
  returning to Brunswick for his most recent assignment, he served as
  a division leading petty officer with top secret security
  clearance; and
         WHEREAS, During the course of his tenure, this patriotic
  Texan has garnered numerous commendations, including five Navy and
  Marine Corps Achievement Medals, two National Defense Service
  Medals, six Good Conduct Medals, and the Global War on Terrorism
  Medal; he has also served his peers as president of the AIMD First
  Class Association; and
         WHEREAS, AS First Class Brown has been supported in all of his
  endeavors by a loving family that includes his wife, Susan, and his
  daughters, Ashley Nicole and Laura Louise; and
         WHEREAS, For two decades, Jay Brown has exemplified the
  highest standards of the United States Navy, and his outstanding
  efforts in this country's behalf are indeed deserving of his fellow
  citizens' deepest gratitude; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Aviation Support Equipment
  Technician First Class Jay Ramsey Brown on his retirement from the
  U.S. Navy and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for AS First Class Brown as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
