R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Peter Rodriguez has received the 2008
  Distinguished Alumni Award from the Kilgore College Ex-Student
  Association; and
         WHEREAS, The first recipient of this prestigious new award,
  Peter Rodriguez attended Kilgore College and then received his
  bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University; he went on to earn his
  master's degree and doctorate in economics from Princeton
  University; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Rodriguez has served as a lecturer at Princeton
  and as a professor at Texas A&M; he is currently an associate dean
  for international affairs and a professor at the Darden School of
  Business at the University of Virginia; he has also worked for the
  Global Energy Group at J.P. Morgan Chase; and
         WHEREAS, Widely recognized for his important work on
  international trade, economic development, and globalization, this
  outstanding scholar has been a Ford-Rockefeller Academic Fellow, a
  Fellow of the British-American Project of Johns Hopkins School of
  Advanced International Studies, and an Excellence in Diversity
  Fellow at the University of Virginia; he has also received numerous
  awards for teaching excellence; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his impressive career, Dr. Rodriguez has
  demonstrated the qualities of intellectual rigor and commitment to
  excellence that indeed make him worthy of recognition as a
  distinguished alumni of Kilgore College; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Peter Rodriguez for receiving
  the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Kilgore College
  Ex-Students Association and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
