R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Elaine Woodmansee has been named Kilgore College |
|
Honored Retiree for 2008 by the Kilgore College Ex-Student |
|
Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, This new award recognizes a retired Kilgore College |
|
employee who played an essential role in maintaining the college's |
|
"Emphasis Excellence" tradition; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Kilgore College, Elaine Woodmansee |
|
earned a certificate in secretarial science and an associate's |
|
degree; she joined the college's staff in 1965, as the first |
|
keypunch operator in the college's Data Processing Department; she |
|
later became a computer operator; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1977, Ms. Woodmansee moved to the college's |
|
business office, where she managed accounts payable and data entry; |
|
she later distinguished herself as executive secretary to the |
|
president and as the president's administrative assistant; by the |
|
time she retired in 1998, she was the recording secretary to the |
|
college's board of trustees; and |
|
WHEREAS, In her retirement, Ms. Woodmansee has found more |
|
time to give back to her community as an active member of Forest |
|
Home Baptist Church and by serving two terms as secretary to the |
|
Kilgore College Ex-Student Association; she has also volunteered |
|
for Habitat for Humanity, and she returns to the college each spring |
|
to manage the Rangerette Revels box office; and |
|
WHEREAS, The institutions of higher learning in Texas depend |
|
greatly on the hard work and expertise of skilled staff persons, and |
|
for nearly 33 years, Elaine Woodmansee played a vital role in the |
|
efficient operation of Kilgore College; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Elaine Woodmansee on her selection |
|
as the 2008 Kilgore College Honored Retiree and extend to her |
|
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Woodmansee as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
