R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Mike Nolen, who stepped down as chief of The Colony |
|
Fire Department in September 2008, rendered outstanding service to |
|
his fellow citizens throughout a firefighting career that spanned |
|
nearly three decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Nolen worked as a teacher and a coach before |
|
becoming a firefighter 28 years ago; he served with the Lewisville |
|
and Farmers Branch Fire Departments for a total of 24 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Named chief of The Colony Fire Department in 2004, |
|
Mr. Nolen played a crucial role in expanding fire service for a |
|
growing community; during his first months on the job, he was |
|
instrumental in creating a five-year plan to guide the development |
|
of the department, and over the course of his tenure he saw much of |
|
that plan brought to fruition, including the opening of a third fire |
|
station and the hiring of additional personnel; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although he has moved on from TCFD, Mr. Nolen is |
|
continuing to share his expertise with a new generation of |
|
firefighters, for he now serves as a full-time faculty member with |
|
the fire sciences program of Collin College; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mike Nolen's dedication, professionalism, and |
|
commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the residents of |
|
The Colony, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well |
|
spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Mike Nolen on his retirement as |
|
chief of The Colony Fire Department and extend to him sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Nolen as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
