R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Midland Memorial Hospital has won two awards from
  the American Heart Association in 2009 as a participant in its Get
  with the Guidelines program; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 2000, the AHA's Get with the
  Guidelines initiative is a quality improvement program that seeks
  to ensure that hospital treatment of coronary artery disease, heart
  failure, and stroke is aligned with the most current scientific
  guidelines and evidence-based procedures and therapies; Midland
  Memorial became the first area hospital to join the GWTG--Coronary
  Artery Disease program in 2004; and
         WHEREAS, For the second consecutive year, the hospital
  received a gold award from the AHA in recognition of its long-term
  efforts to combat coronary artery disease; the hospital also
  received a silver award acknowledging more than 12 consecutive
  months of adherence to performance measures for preventing heart
  failure; and
         WHEREAS, For over 50 years, Midland Memorial has provided
  quality patient care, and the AHA awards exemplify this fine
  institution's outstanding commitment to excellence; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the staff of Midland Memorial
  Hospital on winning two awards from the American Heart
  Association's Get with the Guidelines program and extend to these
  dedicated professionals best wishes for continued success; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Midland Memorial Hospital as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
