R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Monsignor Larry Droll, the Reverend James Bridges,
  and the Reverend James Plagens were conferred papal honors on
  February 6, 2009, at the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart in San
  Angelo; and
         WHEREAS, The pastor of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Midland
  and the vicar general of the diocese of San Angelo, Monsignor Droll
  received the ceremonial title protonotary apostolic supernumerary;
  Reverend Plagens, a senior priest at St. Ann's, and Reverend
  Bridges, the pastor of St. Stephen Parish in Midland, were named
  monsignors, or chaplains to His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI; these
  appointments were made by the pope, at the recommendation of The
  Most Reverend Michael D. Pfeifer, the bishop of the San Angelo
  diocese; and
         WHEREAS, In the Roman Catholic tradition, monsignor is a
  title of distinction given to certain priests for their service to
  the church, and these esteemed clergymen, who have each served in
  the priesthood for more than 30 years, were duly recognized by
  Bishop Pfeifer for their strong faith and their commitment to the
  Diocese of San Angelo; and
         WHEREAS, Monsignors Larry Droll, James Bridges, and James
  Plagens have exemplified the highest standards of their vocation,
  and in so doing, they have garnered the lasting respect and
  admiration of their colleagues and parishioners, as well as members
  of the greater community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Monsignors Larry Droll, James Bridges, and
  James Plagens for their dedicated service and extend to them
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
  for Monsignors Larry Droll, James Bridges, and James Plagens as an
  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
