R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, John R. Parish has received the 2009 Pioneer Award |
|
from the Andrews Chamber of Commerce, and this occasion provides a |
|
fitting opportunity to honor this esteemed Texan; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in 1931 in Wichita County, John Parish worked |
|
at a young age to help support his family; he graduated from Iowa |
|
Park High School in 1948, and answering his nation's call to duty |
|
two years later, he served with the U.S. Marines in Korea; he went |
|
on to attend Midwestern State University and to begin working in the |
|
oilfields of East Texas; Mr. Parish moved to Andrews in 1956 and |
|
obtained a position with Tretolite Chemicals as a field service |
|
engineer; he later launched his own business, the John R. Parish Oil |
|
Company, through which he drilled new wells and reworked others he |
|
had purchased; still tending to 25 oil wells today, Mr. Parish has |
|
established himself as a knowledgeable and highly regarded |
|
businessman within the oil and gas industry of West Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Despite his busy professional life, Mr. Parish has |
|
volunteered his time and resources to his community, serving on the |
|
boards of local schools, as well as the Permian Regional Medical |
|
Center, and participating in the Lions Club; he has also been active |
|
in the Andrews Industrial Foundation, helping to bring in |
|
prospective new industries and diversify the local economy; and |
|
WHEREAS, A generous and dedicated citizen, John Parish has |
|
earned the lasting respect and admiration of all who know him, and |
|
he may indeed reflect with great pride on his notable civic |
|
contributions; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate John R. Parish on his receipt of |
|
the 2009 Pioneer Award from the Andrews Chamber of Commerce and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and |
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Parish as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
