R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to |
|
welcome the reigning Miss Texas, Rebecca Robinson, the reigning |
|
Miss Teen Texas, Sydney Capello, and contestants of the 2009 |
|
pageants to the State Capitol on March 23, 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, Produced by the Miss Texas Organization, the pageant |
|
provides personal and professional opportunities for young women of |
|
the Lone Star State while promoting their engagement in culture, |
|
politics, and community life; since its establishment in 1936, the |
|
competition has drawn contestants from across the state to vie for |
|
the coveted title of Miss Texas; once named, the winner competes |
|
with young women from throughout the nation in the Miss America |
|
Pageant; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joining Miss Texas and Miss Teen Texas are the |
|
talented individuals who are participating in the 2009 pageants; |
|

WHEREAS, Through their involvement, these contestants have |
|
gained confidence and learned valuable life lessons that will |
|
benefit them for years to come, and they may indeed look forward to |
|
the opportunities that lie ahead; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize March 23, 2009, as Miss Texas and Miss |
|
Teen Texas Day at the State Capitol and extend to Miss Texas Rebecca |
|
Robinson, Miss Teen Texas Sydney Capello, and the 2009 pageant |
|
contestants sincere best wishes for a memorable visit. |
